Brightwake Donates £1,000 to Support Men’s Mental Health Group ‘Enlighten the Shadows’
Mental health is spoken about often these days. Poor mental health can be detrimental to many, and the journey from a poor mental state to a healthier one can be very long, difficult, and tiresome. Poor mental health can affect any gender, and everyone deserves the help and support needed to manage and cope with it. However, men’s mental health tends to be overlooked.
Enlighten the Shadows is a Nottingham based men’s mental health support group. Focusing on providing support and help for men who need a safe place to go, to speak and to be heard.
A message from Steve Cotton, Managing Director of Brightwake: “I chose to support this local charity because I think men’s mental health is a very important topic that needs to be highlighted and talked about more.
Despite predispositions and stereotypes, men are only human, too. We may not feel comfortable or that it is acceptable for us to talk about our feelings and emotions, but that does not mean we shouldn’t. We should all have access to help, whether it be from friends and family or support groups like Enlighten the Shadows.
When I heard about Enlighten the Shadows and what they do, I knew it was a charity I had to support. Mental health is something I know many of us suffer with, but we don’t talk about it, and nobody should suffer in silence.”
