As part of our commitment to support education and our local community, in September 2022 we welcomed Paige Freeman to our busy Purchasing Department. Having just completed her GCSE’s Paige was keen to begin her career alongside furthering her education, so applied for an apprenticeship opportunity with Brightwake.
She is now studying one day a week towards a Level 3 qualification as a Business Administrator, which typically takes around 12-18 months, as well as working 4 days a week in our Nottingham-based head office.
‘I chose to do an apprenticeship instead of going to college because I learn better by doing things rather than sitting in a classroom. I’ve learned so much already and I’m really enjoying it.’
Since joining Brightwake Paige has been exposed to all aspects of Business Administration as well as Purchase Order Processing, from placing orders and checking order acknowledgements to chasing proof of delivery and checking invoices before passing them on to the accounts department.
‘I feel I am a lot more confident in speaking to people now because I have to call and speak to suppliers every day as part of my role, as well as my colleagues in the office. I really love it here and I’m happy I can say I love my first job’
Paige’s positive attitude and enthusiasm to learn has made her a fantastic addition to the Brightwake team and we are pleased to be able to support her in her future career.
